Amaju Pinnick, Ahmad Ahmad at War Again

The Nigeria Football Federation have shown interest in hosting the 2020 Women African Cup of Nations. The tournament hosts have yet to be confirmed after the Republic of Congo withdrew as hosts from the tournament which is billed for expansion from eight to twelve teams.

‪The NFF registered their interest after getting the green light that CAF is in a race to find a host for the finals after the Congo-Brazzaville pulled out.

The Nigerian Football Federation is working currently on all formalities and documentation to table their bid.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Ahmad Ahmad meanwhile according to reports from France have echoed Equatorial Guinea interest in hosting the event.‬

Ahmad said that a final decision regarding the hosting right will be made at its next executive committee meeting on 15 January.‬

Nigeria last host any major football tournament when they hosted the 2009 FIFA Under-17 World Cup coming third in the same year ten years after hosting another FIFA age grade tournament FIFA Under-20.

Nigeria is looking to host the Women African Cup of Nations for the fourth time haven done so in 1998, 2002 and 2006 which they went on to win.

Rumor however has it that the feud between the President of Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick and the CAF number one, Ahmad Ahmad will make the later favors another country over Nigeria to assert his authority and superiority over his former number two.

The Super Falcons have won the tournament record nine times and will look to continue where they stopped two years ago in Ghana.
