The deposed President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick is confident of returning to the Glasshouse as the NFF gears up for the September 29 elections to be hosted by Katsina State Government.
Speaking in Benin after the NFF Congress, Pinnick commended his board members for the support given to him thus far.
He said that the battle was not yet over until it was over, adding that the board is very committed to ensuring that Nigeria football is taken to its peak. He described the recent crisis in the country’s football as mere distractions.
“I thank members of this noble board for their support so far.
We must not relent, we must continue to push hard to ensure that our dreams of taking the game of football to its peak is not defeated. This Congress is just for us to discuss the way forward for the game; for example, all we promised the various states about having an FA house is gradually being achieved. Most of the states in the country have had their FA houses completed and we are very proud about it,” he said.
On the elections, he said: “Our elections will be coming up on September 29, 2018 in Katsina State. We are very prepared for it; we have worked diligently and have made some remarkable achievements and we are determined to achieving more for the board. We should not be carried away with what we are seeing now, it is just a family matter, and very soon victory will be ours.”
Pinnick also spoke about the venue: “We love the people of Katsina and that is the home of our President and we want to be hosted by him, you know that the President is a lover of sports so for his own state playing host to us is a good omen for the development of the game.
This present board has done very well; I believe that our scorecard will give us victory at the elections. So we should all go back to various states and work for our success. I’m happy that this Congress is a huge success we will sing the song of victory at the end.
