The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, says it is committed in maintaining a healthy workforce by encouraging its staff to play golf.
Group Managing Director of the Corporation, Maikanti Baru, stated this while taking a ceremonial Tee Off of NNPC Downstream golf tournament at the Kaduna Golf club.
Baru emphasized that the company is interested in the game because it shares common core values of honestly and intergrity with the organization.
According to the GMD, golf like any other game, guarantees sound mind, healthy body and a mentally alert and productive workforce.
Chairman Board of Directors of Kaduna Golf club, Mai Birnin Gwari the second, Jibril Zubair, said it takes a good leader to identify where help is needed for his workforce and thanked NNPC for sponsoring the tournament.
Captain of the club retired colonel Ibrahim Biu,
said proceeds from the tournament will be used to improve facilities at the club especially the playing condition
Andrew Ayabam emerged overall winner with sixty seven net representing five under par.
Staff of NNPC, members of Kaduna Golf club and other guest players also won various prizes.
