Annette Echikunwoke Speaks On Her Choice Of Nigeria Over America By Uche Dozie Nigeria thrower Annette Echikunwoke has revealed the reasons she chose to represent Nigeria instead of the U.S.A, BSNSports.com.ng can report. The 25-year-old concluded her switch to Nigeria from the USA in January this year after representing the latter as a student. The hammer specialist broke the African record twice in the space of a week and earned an olympic qualification mark to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics next month. Echikunwoke reveals she felt Nigeria is the better option with better opportunity hence, the reason why she chose Nigeria. "I really thought it was just better to represent Nigeria because it would feel more connected here. I just felt I would have more of an opportunity here and to just represent Nigeria at the highest stage would be awesome. My parents were born and raised here so why not?" She said at the National Trials in YabaTech Sporting Complex, Lagos. She competed at the hammers event of the national trials were she finished first with a 72.2m throw winning her first national trial title.
