Arrays of Stars playing without passion

By Omolagba Oluwayemi This evening I saw what I'll term a disastrous performance from the Nigerian Eagles. I won't call them Super Eagles because there's nothing Super about them anymore. How do you let a four goals lead slip with the arrays of Stars in the team, how can you not put your life on the line to protect the lead the moment they score was 4-3. What happened to those days when you see the passion on the faces of the players when the national anthem is played not to talk of the willingness to play with the heart throughout the game. Today, you see players smile when they miss clear goal scoring opportunities and commits error on the pitch and still get invited for the next International game. I'll attribute today's loss to lack of commitment and lackadaisical attitudes of the playing and coaching staff in the team which should not be found at these level of football in the nation. The last couple of weeks has not been and easy one for Nigerians and at a point where most people are expecting the Eagles to put some smiles on our faces, to decided to add more pains. I knew the game won't be easy and if someone had shown the coaching crew and players my words of advice for them this morning, probably they would have prevented what happened in Benin. Eagles will surely qualify for the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon but if the players continue with these attitudes of theirs then it'll be difficult for us to get out of the group stages with our arrays of Stars One won't say these players are not good enough but the problem is the passion that comes with wearing the national team jersey is long gone A certain Vincent Enyeama will coordinate his defense in a situation like this.
