Asaba 2018: Seye Ogunlewe Misses Out on 100m Medal, Finishes 5th

By Admin Seye Ogunlewe, Nigeria’s representative in the men’s 100m final of the African Athletics Championship, went home empty-handed. Ogunlewe came fifth after finishing the race in a time of 10:45 seconds on Thursday. Commonwealth champion Akanni Simbine claimed the gold medal, winning in a time of 10:25 seconds. Gueu Arthur Cisse of Cote D’Ivoire won the silver medal in 10:33 seconds. Another South African Simon Magakwe of South Africa went home with the bronze medal. Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Temilola Ogunrinde smashed the hammer throw national record to win the silver medal with a 67.39 meter throw. Soukaina Zakour of Mauritius won the gold medal while Congolese Jennifer Bawsikita took home bronze.
