  At Last, NPFL Kicks Off After 9-Month Break By Editor Never since the national league football began in the country in 1970s has there been a nine-month break. The last season (2019/2020) ended abruptly and the start of the new season suffered series postponements – no thanks to the coronavirus pandemic which put all football and other sports in comatose. This makes it three consecutive seasons since 2018 that the Nigeria Professional Football League has not been concluded on without hitches. At last, the lead Nigerian football league commences this Sunday nationwide. This after the women's league, Nigeria Women's Football League (NWFL) entered week three.   Today, the Rivers United versus Enugu Rangers is easily the star match of the day while Uyo and Aba will have local derbies as Akwa United host Dakkada FC (formerly Akwa Starlets) and Enyimba host Abia Warriors. In all, there will be 10 matches. The fixtures run thus: IfeanyiUbah vs. Lobi Stars Katsina United vs. Heartland Rivers United vs. Enugu Rangers Jigawa Golden Stars vs. Sunshine Stars Akwa United vs. Dakkada FC Plateau United vs. Kwara United Kano Pillars vs. Adamawa United MFM vs. Warri Wolves Nasarawa United vs. Wikki Tourists Enyimba vs Abia Wariors
