...We will make Nigerians Proud...Femi Thomas By Niyi Busari Rangers international of Enugu goalkeeper, Femi Thomas has said that he was not expecting the Super Eagles call up into the team that will slug it out with Uefa Europa Cup winners, Athletico Madrid on Tuesday at the UJ Eusiene stadium in Calabar, BSN Sports reports. He admitted that he is doing very well at the club level. He, also stated that the invitation come at the right time as he aims to impress if he is selected to be in the goalpost against Athletico Madrid in the international friendly next Tuesday. "I was just doing my thing in my club and did not expect the invitation. I could not believe it when i heard that i was invited to the Super Eagles. If i am chosen to be in the goal post, i will do my best not to stop all the balls from going into goal post" The Former Enyimba and Kano Pillars goalkeeper told www.bsn.com.ng that he was not disappointed when his name was not among the 30-man World Cup list because according to him, he was not part of the qualifying games. "I was not surprised when the 30-man list came out and my name was missing, i knew i will not be there because i was not part of the team that played the qualifier matches. I know with my performance, my time will come. So, when the list cam out, the only thing i did is to pray for the players." He said the his invitation goes beyond the Athletico Madrid game but about making Nigerians proud that there are players aside the thirty invited players for the world cup that can represent Nigeria at the highest level. "For now, the game is more just playing against Athletico Madrid but about making Nigerians around the world proud that a team apart from the 30 players that made the world cup list can still player at the highest level. Every player invited is good and will not disappoint the football loving Nigerians."
