AWCON 2018: Cameroon Pick World Cup Ticket, Defeat Mali By Niyi Busari Cameroon on Friday qualified for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup after defeating Mali 4-2 in the third place playoff in Cape Coast, Ghana, BSNSports.com.ng reports. The Indomitable Lionesses join Nigeria and South Africa at the big stage to participate in 2019 FIFA Women World in France. Abena Theresa's double in the 32nd and 41st minutes put the Lionesses on the driving seat before Fatoumata Diarra scored a late first half consolation to end the half time 2-1. Auralla Awona owngoal in the 57th minute brought Mali back to the tension soaked game to bring the scoreline to 2-2. However, Onguene Gabriel and Manu Christine's wonderful volley in the 92nd minute were enough for Cameroon to win the bronze medal and also qualify them for the 2019 FIFA Women World Cup in France. Cameroon's Lionesses have not lost against Mali having met four time, won three and drew one. They have met twice in this Championship and twice they (Mali) were defeated.
