AWCON
AWCON 2018: ..No Hiding Place For South Africa, says Dilichikwu By Niyi Busari Director of Sports Department, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Mrs. Dilichikwu Onyendinma has thrown her weight behind Super Falcons to beat Banyana Banyana of South Africa in today's African Women Nations Cup final, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Speaking with BSN Sports in her office in Abuja, the former NFF head of women football started by congratulating Falcons on their semifinal win over 'stubborn' Lionesses of Cameroon which ended 4-2 after penalty shoot-out. "I know they will win, Falcons of Nigeria are not baby team in Africa, they have the experience and have won it more than any African teams. Meanwhile let me use this opportunity to congratulate them on their last match against Cameroon, it was not easy. Anytime Nigeria play against Cameroon it is always a thug of war but thank God we won." She said. She was surprised that Banyana Banyana defeated Falcons in the first match of the championship as they were never been an opponent that could give Falcons a run for their money. "I am really surprised to see South Africa to be one of the team to be reckoned with in Africa because I remember South Africa is one f the team that we always use to warm up but I am surprised to see South Africa beat Nigeria in the first game. It is still a surprise to me. But may be probably because of one thing or the other because most times we start preparation poorly. She opined that with the $10,000 winning bonus for each Falcons player they will do everything possible to win the title. "And I believe that this time around they have been motivated, I read in the newspaper that they are promised $10,000 each, that is what they need. That is enough motivation for them to go extra mile and win the trophy. So with this, they will beat South Africa today." She concluded. Super Falcons will slug it out with Banyana Banyana of South Africa at the Cape Coast stadium by 5:00 pm Nigerian time. Falcons will be looking forward to winning the title for the ninth time while Banyana Banyana have not won the title, though have world cup for the first time ever.
