By Taofeek LAWAL

Contrary to reports in the media that former Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan strongman, Ajibade Babalade who passed away on Friday died of heart attack, BSN can authoritatively reports that the Senegal '92 bronze medallist died after a brief illness which started on Thursday.

According to the source who is a very close to the deceased defender, he said he chatted with the former Super Store FC defender on social media with Babalade on Thursday morning and there was no sign that he was sick or that death was knocking on the door.

"Babalade and I chatted on the social media on Thursday morning and we spoke on a lot of issues. He was my good friend and I cannot believe that he is gone, it is very difficult for me that he has left us when we needed him most.

"He did not die of heart attack as being reported in the media, only God knows why he took him away now. It was later on Thursday that he developed a brief illness which eventually led to his death at the University College Hospital (UCH) on Friday.

'Kunde' is well loved by all because of his charismatic nature and he is very jovial," the source told BSN Sports on phone. The source also informed that the late Babalade relocated his wife and three children to the United States about ten years ago and has a house built in Ibadan which he was collecting rent from. A check on Ajibade Babalade Facebook by BSN Sports showed the late defender posting on his timeline celebrating his first child birthday, a son which read, 'Happy birthday to my first fruit and may you celebrate more of it ijn'. The post was on Thursday September 3, 2020 at 09:20am.
