  Badminton Federation Of Nigeria To Partner Schools In The Country. By Hananeel Jackson President of the Nigeria Badminton federation Mr. Francis Orbih says his aim is to take Badminton to the grassroots and schools in the country. Mr. Orbih gave the hint when he featured on Radio Nigeria, Creek Fm Yenagoa sport program ' Sports Blast' at the weekend. He explained that before he became president of the Federation;there was a programme called the "shuttle times", which sought to discover young talents to replace the aged players, pointing out that idea of the initiative was to take badminton to schools and grassroots. Mr. Orbih said as part of the program, the Federation would supply equipment to schools, help the schools to mark their courts as well as taking the games masters of the benefiting schools for training courses. On Bayelsa State, he said the state has not made a strong impact in the sport, however believed that something new could be done to bring the school programme to Bayelsa State. The Badminton Federation President noted that the immediate task of the federation was to qualified for the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympic games in Japan next year and also go beyond first round in the fiesta. Mr. Orbih said already three players have qualified for the Olympics,two male and one female,Anuoluwa Opeyori, Godwin Olofua and Dorcas Adesokan. He noted that with three representatives, he is upbeat of improve performance compared to the previous Olympics games were the Federation had one representative in the event Mr. Francis Orbih said while waiting for the ministry of youths and sports development and Presidential Task Force to announce the return of contact sports in the country,the Badminton Federation would organise a programme that would keep the players busy before the year runs out.
