BAL: Kigali To Host Next Two Editions, As Qualifiers Start in October By Sampson Adedeji Kigali, the capital of Rwanda will host the next editions of Basketball Africa League (BAL) games (2022 and 2023), BSNSports.com.ng reports. Kigali hosted the first edition of the competition this year and Zamalek of Egypt emerged champions after beating US Monastir of Tunisia in the final. The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) CEO Claire Akamanzi made the announcement via her social media handle. "Rwanda is more than ready for the two next seasons: BAL 2022 and BAL 2023." The qualifiers for a new BAL season (2022) are slated for October this year. A total of 31 teams from 31 countries will participate in the qualifying rounds from which six teams will book tickets to play the BAL season in 2022, along with six other sides which qualified for the BAL finals upon becoming champions in their respective domestic leagues. Rivers Hoopers represented Nigeria in the just-concluded 2021 edition of the competition but failed to make beyond the group stage.
