Bala Blames Kwara United Loss On Defensive Blunder

Kwara united defensive fragilities ensured they lost to clinical Lobi Stars of Markudi at the Aper Aku stadium during the week five match of the Nigeria Professional football league played on Sunday.

The Harmony boys arrived Markudi high in confidence after picking an away point in Benin on Wednesday but were stunned when Lobi Stars scored three in a thirty-two minute burst.

The signals for a harrowing forty five minutes to come were posted inside the opening ten minute when Michael Stephen cashed in on some poor defending to divert in a cross from the right.

The Harmony Boys had the opportunity to level up matters in the twenty two minutes of play but Peter Mommoh's effort from a free kick sailed wide.

Moments later, Lobi stars got their second when Kwara United lost possession from a free kick. Segun Alebiosu went down under a challenge but the referee waves play on and Lobi went down the other end to score when Yahaya Kone was afforded too much time and space to curl a left footed effort beyond Yusuf Mohammed.

Eight minute later, Coach Bala stood motionless in his technical area for the third. Yahaya Kone got his second of the game to make it 3-0 when his delightful free kick found its way past Yusuf.

Segun Alebiosu got injured before the end of the disappointing first half and had to made way for Uche Owonansoya before Andrew Ikefe was shown a yellow for a foul on Dare Ojo.

On resumption, the Harmony Boys lay siege on the visitors goal and went close on several occasions through Uche, Mommoh, Hashim and Odeyemi.

On the hour mark, a sensational through ball by Uche finds Odeyemi, who shield his marker before blasting wide from a decent position.

Coach Bala side kept pilling the pressure in an attempt to reduced the deficit. Deep into stoppage time, Uche owonansoya was presented with Kwara united best opportunity of the evening when he race through on goal but his effort was stopped by the leg of Olufemi in goal for Lobi.

Solomon Ogbeide, while giving his post match reaction said his side had too much for the visitors in the opening half. "You could see we played well in the first half though they were a different team later on but we were able to stood our ground".

His opposite number, coach Bala of Kwara united admitted defensive blunders and hard luck cost his team the game. " We gave away cheap goals against a very good side. We played better in the second half but missed several goal scoring chances".
