Director of Sports in the Bayelsa State sports council, Mr. Braveman Wodi has constituted a management team to administer the Council days after his appointment.

The management team was set up after a meeting with stakeholders in the sports council last week shortly after his appointment by the state government.

The new sports council team is made up of thirteen members in different departments.

According to an official document, Mr. Robin Apreala will serve as acting secretary, while Mr.Linus Okoro-Egbe is Head of Department, Organizing, and Mrs. Catherine Sasaude, Head of Department coaching.

Mr Hans Ebiegberi is head of department, planning and statistics, while Mr. Godgive Dede is head of facility and equipment with Mr. Dipreye Amgbare now head of human resources.

Dr Justice Akpotu will be in charge of medical as Mr. Andrew Aye is head of programme athletes, and Mr. Azibalua Ebiri, head of zones.

Others are Mrs. Iruo Amgbare, head institutional sports,Mrs Dipreye Owugah, head of public relations, Mr Biowei Lambert will handle head of international sports while Rice Akinima is head of finance and supply.

However, the crisis rocking the Bayelsa State Sports Council is far from over as the immediate past Director, Souyi Lokoja has vowed to remain on the post.

Last Tuesday, a letter from the Secretary to the State Government’s office had appointed Mr. Braveman Wodi as the new Director at the Sports Council, but Mr. Lokoja has insisted that he remains the head of the Sports Council and would remain in the position.

Mr. Lokoja in an interview with Radio Nigeria stressed that the position of Director of Sports is not tenure based as much as the governor want his services, pointing out that  a former director of sports, Jackson Ebide served in same post for ten years.

When asked why he feels he was still in charge of the office the embattled Lokoja said having worked faithfully for the PDP, he deserved to be re-appointed and would wait for a directive from governor Douyi Diri and not act on a letter by the Secretary to the state government.

Mr. Suoyo Lokoja however said he has received a copy of the letter appointing a New Director of Sports last Friday.
