BAZUAYE RATES INSURANCE NPFL RETURN TICKET ABOVE 1996 ATLANTA OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL

Insurance of Benin coach, Baldwin Bazuaye has revealed

that returning of Bendel Insurance to the Nigeria top flight, NPFL, comes way above his 1996 Atlanta Olympic gold medal he won with the Nigeria U23 National Football Team, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

"In 1996, we won the Olympic gold medal and as a player it was so amazing", starts Bazuaye who is called 'Ogie Lefty' by his fans in the early stage of his illustrious career.

"As a player then, I was happy but now as a coach, I think taking Insurance back to the Premier League after 11 years is incredibly out of the moon.

"What makes it something special is the fact that I was a member of the Insurance technical crew when the team went down.

"So you can imagine how delighted I'm when I was called back from my duty post at Katsina United to spearhead this Insurance glorious moment".

First son of legendary late Willy Bazuaye who worked with Dutchman Bonfrere Jo in that 1996 Olympic success, Bazuaye owed every bit of the Benin Arsenal success to God and unity of purpose among the players, coaches and state government.

"First no one person can take the glory of this monumental success. Instead, it is the grace of God.

"Above all, the oneness of purpose by the players, coaches and (Edo) state government".

Recalling how the journey started, the left footed dazzler who featured for defunct Udoji United, Insurance and Sunshine Stars amongst others, revealed the role of Edo State deputy governor, Philip Shuaibu, in his return from Katsina United.

"I was in Katsina United when the deputy governor called for my return.

"He said I should come back so we can do it for our dear club and state.

"I was dearly loved by all at Katsina United. They gave me everything and for the four seasons I spent there I will say they were fantastic moments for me and I would for ever remain grateful".

The pint size gaffer is not setting high ambition for the NPFL returning insurance.

"We are not over ambitious. We are still work in progress, out to consolidate our position but would gladly take any chance as regards title or continental ticket".
