The Nigerian ladies dust themselves up from it loss to Kenya on Wednesday to beat a hard fighting Cape Verde 2-1 after a golden match. Albertina and Nnoruga had won the first match against Lu/Jany (21-10, 15-21, 15-9). However, the Cape Verdeans staged a comeback through Marly and Zina who beat Amara and Franco 21-23, 21-17, 10-15 in the second match. Hence, a golden match was played to decide the winner. The Nigerian team showed it resolve as it took the golden battle 17-21, 21-11, 15-8 to win the overall tie 2-1. The Volleyball team has qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition after finishing second in group B.
