Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament : Teams Arrive in Benin as Bosses Hail Edo Govt ... Say Facilities, Hospitality Superb

Nigeria Women Football League Premiership club and Aiteo Cup Champions Bayelsa Queens Football Club's Technical Adviser, Domo Okara and Rolly FC head coach Charles Glory have commended Governor Obaseki of Edo state and his sports development team led by his Deputy Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu for their foresight and commitment to the development of sports in the state.
The duo in a separate interview with the Observer Sports in Benin said that they are convinced by what is on ground in Edo state in terms of sports infrastructure that Edo is ready to take sports to a higher level,insisting that the remodelled Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium is well up to standard.
Domo Okara of Beyelsa Queens FC on arrival said that Governor Obaseki has set the pace and standard in the area of sporting events organisation when he hosted the 2021 Aiteo/Federation Cup finals in Benin which Bayelsa Queens won,maintaining that he is confident that Betsey Obaseki Women Football Tournament will not be an exception,hence their interest to participate.
"Benin is a favourable ground for Beyelsa Queens. We were here recently for the Aiteo Cup finals which we won and we saw the level of organisation; the standard and hospitality. It is second to non. Governor Obaseki and his Deputy Philip Shaibu deserve commendation.
I must also commend the first lady Betsy Obaseki for putting this kind of pre season tournament together for women Football teams. This happening for the first time in Niger Delta region. Other Governors should emulate Edo state government" He emphasized.
On their readiness for the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament ,Okara said that Beyelsa Queens are well prepared but revealed that they are not in Benin only for the top prizes but want to take advantage of playing with other good teams to help his side in their process of blending the old players with the fresh legs.
Similarly, Rolly Angels FC coach Charles Glory while commending the Edo state government and the organisers of the tournament said she was happy to receive invitation letter from the organisers of the tournament, knowing that it is an opportunity for her team to play against the big clubs in the country who are participating.
Meanwhile, FC Robo were the first team to arrive in Benin for the tournament. They were later joined by Fortress Ladies of Benin and Edo Queens .
Others in Benin already include Royal Queens FC of Warri, Delta state, Sunshine Queens .
All the participanting clubs on arrival embarked on the compulsory Covid-19 test .
The draws are expected to hold later at 7pm at the Government House, Benin City,
Football hostility will begin tomorrow, Monday September 27 while the opening ceremony is also scheduled for tomorrow at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. Time is 4: 00 PM.
