BJK Cup: Nigeria Gets First Win Against Kosovo

Nigeria's first participation at the Billie Jean King (BJK) Cup also known as the Fed Cup finally yields result as the team won her second game after beating Kosovo on Wednesday, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
The team made up of Nigeria number one, Barakat Oyinlomo Quadre, Adesuwa Osabuohien, Sarah Adegoke and captain Ifedayo Akindoju won by 3-0 in the individual ties and the double tie of the tennis tournament holding at the SEB Arena in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Nigeria got the first victory of their history after Adesuwa Osabuohien defeated Donika Bashota from Kosovo in straight set 6-1 6-4 in the first game.
Before Barakat Quadre defeated Adrijana Lekaj 6-2 4-6 6-0 to seal the win for Nigeria.
The team completed the rout in the doubles as Osabuohien and Quadre only needed 54 minutes to win against Bashota and Lekaj 6-2 6-1.
Hosts Lithuania had overcome Nigeria 3-0, but the tie was harder than the scoreline suggests. No. 2 singles player Iveta Dapkute had to come back from a set down to defeat Adesuwa Osabuohien 4-6 6-2 6-4 and the doubles match was a narrow 6-4 7-5 win for the hosts.
The Nigerian team is expected to top pool C in a round robin fashion to make it to the playoffs of the indoor hard court tournament.
