Ex-Super Eagles defender Sam Sodje has blamed the nigeria’s ouster from the 2018 World Cup on coach Gernot Rohr.
The Eagles were sent packing from the World Cup following a 2-1 loss to Argentina on Tuesday and Sodje has laid the blame squarely at the doorsteps of Rohr.
“The boys really played well against Argentina, they were not to blame for the loss because the technical crew didn’t help the boys when needed,” Sodje told ScoreNigeria.
“I put myself in their situation, anybody who knows the game will know and see that the players were crying for help in the last minutes of the game which a sound technical crew should know and work on.
“To my surprise the players defended well, but tell me how on earth we didn’t make the three substitution to help the boys hold on to the draw that we needed? That showed our bench lack knowledge of the game.
“We lost due to concentration and that was because the bench failed to do the needful. I expected a lot of game management by get players (defenders or markers) on the pitch to help their teammates out and also manage the clock, I am so disappointed in the bench because all these are basic in technical crew job.
“I just thought when you are fighting for a draw and not to concede a goal, you should be getting your defensive players on the field especially when you have managed to get to four minute to go on the clock.
“This was a disappointing way to lose to Argentina.”
