Bonaventure
FC Cologne of Germany attacker, Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure has been described as the architect of his own woes in the German Bundesliga, as his club’s coach, Mark Gisdol believes the former Club Brugge of Belgium star puts himself under undo pressure with his questionable attitude, BSNSports.com.ng reports. With Bonaventure again hit with bad news about a driving ban he has been hit with in absentia back in Belgium, from where he joined Cologne on loan last summer, Gisdol has blown the lid off what he noted are suggestive gestures from the 23-year-old forward that also get him into the new for the wrong reasons. However, despite admitting that he is struggling to under Bonaventure’s agitations and mood swing, which have also seen him get into spats with teammates at both Brugge and Cologne, Gisdol added that he still expects the former Super Eagles’ invitee to soon start shining with his team. Bonaventure has started six games and got off the bench in the team’s 2-1 win away to Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend, but he is yet to score in the Bundesliga after nine appearances and Cologne are battling to get clear of relegation. Nonetheless, despite worries for the club and the player, Gisdol is ready to give Bonaventure benefit of the doubt and promised not to write off the former Ukraine-based attacker just yet, even as he stated matter of factly that the once-vibrant youngster needs a change of character. Gisdol expatiated: “He is very emotional. When he makes a throwaway gesture, he puts himself under pressure. He’s not helping us like that. “We prefer not to see such body language (but) I don’t want to write it off yet. Just because he played some weaker games doesn’t mean he can’t be valuable to us.”
