Former German Bundesliga champions, Borussia Dortmund have joined millions of well-wishers around the world who congratulated Nigeria on the occasion of their 60 years of independent, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Having gained independence on October 1st, 1960, Nigeria on Thursday clocked 60 years which was marked around the world.

Borussia Dortmund have won eight league championships, four DFB-Pokals, one Uefa Champions League, intercontinental Cup and one Uefa Cup Winner's Cup.

The German giants wished Nigeria happy independence on its official twitter; "Happy Nigerian Independence Day to our friends and family around the world! 🇳🇬

Nigeria is a football loving nation with rich football history. Nigeria has won the FIFA U17 World Cup 5 times, the African Nations Cup thrice, one Gold medal in the Men's Football Event in 1996 Olympics while the Falcons won the Women's African Nations Cup a total of 11 times.
