The Nigeria National League (NNL) which went on Christmas and New Year break two weeks ago may not commence this weekend as scheduled, BSNSports.com.ng can report

Information reaching BSN Sports has it that the management of the league has not gotten the kick-off go-ahead response from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Hence, the management is silent on whether the league will kick off this weekend as earlier announced.

The silence from the management of the league on resumption date created confusion among the Club General Managers as regards whether the kick off date scheduled for this weekend is sacrosanct.

According to one of the General Manager who wants his name not mentioned, said on their part, many teams particularly the private and some government owned clubs told the NNL management to shift the league resumption due to lack of funds, while some threatened to pull out of the league if the issue of bad officiating is not taken care of.

Recall that some clubs in the NNL in December held a meeting in Abuja where the issue of setting up a private league in Nigeria christened the Independent Nigeria League was discussed and many clubs in the Nigeria second tier league are already putting their house in order to join the Independent Nigeria League (INL).

The league (INL), according to the source, will not have representatives in the CAF Club competitions but have put everything in place to have it showed on Television, have a sponsor and prize for champions, runners up to the last team on the table.
