Breaking! NBBF Elective Congress To Hold January 30th

The postponed Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Elective Congress is scheduled to hold on or before 30 January, 2022, BSNSports.com.ng can authoritatively report.
This was revealed by the Chief of Staff to Sunday Dare, Alhaji Abba Yola in an exclusive interview with BSN Sports at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Saturday.
He added that the world basketball governing body, FIBA and the Ministry of Sports are in smooth communication and unanimously agreed for the date.
"I can tell you that FIBA has said the NBBF elections should be held on or before January 30, 2022. FIBA has understood that the Ministry is not interfering but need to come in to settle the internal crisis. " Abba Yola told BSN Sports.
He added that the Reconciliation Committee inaugurated by the Ministry of Sports will submit their report in December to chat the way forward to end the crisis.
"The Reconciliation Committee will submit its report in the second week of December, we have done our investigation on the crisis and we discovered that the major problem is the Constitution which we suggested that should be amended. I believe before the Elective Congress the basketball family will become one again we shall see the game of basketball on the rise again. The next elections will be free and fair to all who wish to contest for any position.
"The division and crisis is really affecting the development of the game and the players and that's why it is important to settle the internal rancour before the elections.
"Basketball stakeholders need to embrace peace if truly they love the game as they claimed."
The 2021 NBBF Elective Congress was slated for October 30 before the Ministry of Sports and NBBF Congress announced the postponement few days to the scheduled date.
