BREAKING: Seven Days Into The Games, National Sports Festival Ends Tomorrow Due To Lack Of Funds

  Six days into the ongoing 20th National Sports Festival, tagged Edo2020, information from a reliable source has it that the games will end abruptly tomorrow (Thursday) 8th April 2021, at 12 noon. According to the source, the project manager (Media and Publicity), Mr Musa Ebomhiana, the decision was reached on Wednesday evening at meeting headed by the LOC chairman and deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu following the Federal Government refusal to furnish the state government with fund for the event, Platinum News stated. Efforts to reach the LOC for the confirmation of this has proved abortive as network hasn’t been favourable to our calls to members of the LOC. A release credited to the Project Manager, media and communications, Edo 2020, Mr Ebomhiana Musa, the games would be brought to an end on Thursday 8th April, 2021. “The Local Organising Committee, Edo2020 regrets to announce that it will end the games abruptly tomorrow, Thursday, April 8, 2021 for lack of funds. Rising from an emergency meeting this evening, the LOC says it has to take this hard decision due to lack of funds having expended its reserves to kick start the games. Regrettably, the FG is yet to redeem its pledge to support us as the host state financially for the cost of postponements. So, we are left with no option than to end the games at noon tomorrow.”
