Bright Osayi-Samuel Becomes Seventh Nigerian At Fernebahce Of Turkey

Bright Osayi-Samuel has become the seventh Nigerian player to sign for Fenerbahçe of Turkey, as the Istanbul-based side announced that they have agreed a four-year contract with the fleet-footed winger from Queens Park Rangers of England, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Osayi-Samuel, who was born in Okija, Rivers State but migrated with his family first to Spain and then England when he was 10 years old, follows the steps of Uche Okechukwu, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, Michael Eneramo, Emmanuel Emenike, Joseph Ikpo Yobo and Victor Moses. A report by Football Insider revealed that QPR’s director, Les Ferdinand is in negotiations with Fenerbahçe about a fee of 750,000 pounds for the 23-year-old Osayi-Samuel, who joined QPR from Blackpool in September 2017 However, it remains to be seen if Queens Park Rangers will agree to part company with the lad before the close of the January transfer window as he is high on the cards of The Rs’ coach, Mark Warburton’s team sheet. Of 25 games contested by the London-based club in all competitions this season, Osayi-Samuel has been named in the starting line-up on 22 occasions and was substituted in once, which means his status is high with The Hoops, who convinced him to jettison offers from Celtic of Scotland and Club Brugge of Belgium last summer. Fenerbahçe, though, hinted that he will not make the move until his contract with his current English Championship side ends in the summer, as The Yellow Canaries stated: “Our club have reached agreement with Bright Osayi-Samuel of Queens Park Rangers starting from the 2021-2022 season. Details of the transfer will be announced in the coming days.”
