  Bundesliga: Awoniyi Scores In Union Berlin Win By Sampson Adedeji Nigeria international, Taiwo Awoniyi was the cynosure of all eyes on Sunday in the German Bundesliga match involving his team Union Berlin and FC Koln, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Awoniyi moved to Union Berlin this summer on loan from the English premier league champions Liverpool on loan. He spent last season on loan at another Bundesliga side Mainz 05 and he was able standout for the club in the later part of the season. Berlin secured a 1-2 away win on Sunday night as Awoniyi opened the scorer sheet in the 27th minute to silent the home fans. Ellyes Shkiri off Ondrej Duda assists drew the home side level in the 36th minute before Max Kruise who had lost a penalty earlier in the match netted the winning goal in the 72nd minute. Awoniyi was replaced by Teuchert in the 73rd minute of the keenly contested encounter. The goal scored by Awoniyi made it his first league goal for the club this season. The win helped Union Berlin climbed to the 5th on the log with 15 points from 8 matches two points behind RB Leipzig occupied 4th position . Union Berlin have not scored more than two goals in a match since the beginning of the 2020/2021 Germany Bundesliga.
