The former Nigeria Junior International joined Berlin based club from the English Premier League side Liverpool after a successful loan spell with another German club Mainz 05 last season. Managing director of the club, Olivier Ruhnert thanked Awoniyi for his contribution to the club. “We decided to borrow Awoniyi during the transition periods.
