C-USA Athletics Championships: Erhire Best, Esther Isa, Amarachukwu Obi Continue Fine Form By Uche Dozie The trio of Esther Isa, Erhire Best and Amarachukwu Obi have been in top shape for weeks in each meet that they participate in. This time at the C-USA Outdoor Championship in Tennessee, the students-Nigerian athletes came out tops in both the field and track events, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Erhire Best rose over 2.18m at the first time of asking to clinch the men's High Jump title, successfully holding off his major rival in the region Corvell Todd who managed 2.15m as third place went to Eric Richards with 2.12m. In the long jump event, Esther Isa and Benjamin Onyekwelu were in action in the Women's and Men's Long Jump event respectively. Esther jumped a mark of 6.11m (PB) to place fourth while Benjamin's mark of 6.64m saw him placed eleventh. Isa and Best were not done yet as went gun blazing the next day to win more medals. Esther Isa with a mark of 12.97m won the silver medal in the women's Triple Jump event at the ongoing C-USA Outdoor Championship. She also equalled her Personal Best of 1.85m to clinch the Gold medal in the Women's High Jump event and her second medal at the C-USA Outdoor Championship. Erhire Omamuyovwi on his part clinched his second medal of the with a new Personal Best of 15.37m, to take the Bronze medal in the Men’s Triple Jump event. Amarachukwu Obi picked up four medals at the just concluded C-USA Outdoor Championship. She was in action in the Women's 200m, 400m, 4x100m and 4x400m events. In the 200m event, she clinched Gold with a time of 23.30s. In the 400m event, she placed second with a time of 53.06s. She then helped her team to two Gold medals in the relays. In the Women's 4x100m, the team placed first with a time of 44.95s and a 3:39.44 was enough to get the Women's 4x400m relay team first place. Amarachukwu Obi had qualified for the Women's 200m final after an impressive showing of 23.56s which saw her clinch first place in the preliminaries at the C-USA Outdoor Championships. Brume Oghenekaro clocked 24:41s to come second in the same race. Cecilia Francis placed fourth with a time of 11.64s in the Women's 100m event at the just concluded C-USA Outdoor Championship. She ran 11.88s and placed fifth in the Women's 100m preliminaries. She helped her team clinch Gold in the women's 4x100m relay with a time of 44.95s.
