CAA Region II: Ghana Beat Nigeria To Gold In Male And Female Half Marathon

Ghana's atheletes in both the female and male half marathon race got the first gold medals of the Confederation of African Athletes Region II Championship happening in Ahmadu Bello University, Sports Complex Zaria, Kaduna, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
Sakat Larisa Julian and Amponsah William of team Ghana emerged gold medalists in the Women and Men in the 21km half marathon event at the ongoing CAA Region II Championship.
In the men category, William Amponsah of Ghana clinched the gold ahead of Shehu Shagari of Nigeria while Abdoukadir Suleman (Niger) settled for the bronze.
Seasoned marathoner, Illya Pam led Team Nigeria out in the 21km half marathon race in their quest to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics .
While Team Ghana got another gold medal as Sakat Larisa Julian picked up the Gold medal in the Women's Marathon while Vera Yohanna of Team Nigeria settled for silver and Mary Offor of Team Nigeria also won bronze.
The Championship which is a Grade B and an Olympics qualifier started today and will end tomorrow.
Nine Western African countries including Nigeria are competing in the championship.
