CAF Adopts Biennial World Cup Sampson Adedeji Confederation of African Football (CAF) has backed the proposed biennial world cup by the World soccer governing body (FIFA), BSNsports.com.ng can report. The FIFA committee under Arsene Wenger has been canvassing for World Cup every two years in recent times but most countries around the world especially European countries have opted against the proposal. CAF held its Extraordinary Assembly in its headquarters in Cairo, Egypt on Friday and they voted in favour of the biennial World Cup. Since its inception, World Cup has been held every 4 years and no Africa county has gone beyond the quarter-final of the competition. Qatar will stage the next World cup in 2022 with the 2026 edition set to be co-hosted by three countries.
