CAF CC: Enyimba FC To Face Djoliba In 'Easy' Group C Opener.
...Analysis And Chances of Making it to quater final stage
By Niyi Busari
Nigerian Professional Football League only surviving club in the CAF Confederation Cup has been drawn in Group C alongside Williamsville Athletic Club of Ivory Coast, Club Athletique Renaissance of Congo and Djoliba AC de Bamako Mali.
Enyimba FC will start their Confederation Cup campaign at home against Djoliba of Mali, who knocked out MFM FC of Lagos, on 4th May 2018. Eleven days later, Seven times Nigerian champions will travel to Congo to face Club Athletique Renaissance Algons. The competition will go on break to pave way for the World Cup finals in Russia. Actions and hostilities resume on July 17th when Enyimba will play two consecutive games on home and away soils with Ivory Coast based team Williamsville AC. The first match is scheduled to hold in Nigeria while the second game between the two clubs takes place in Cote d'Ivoire on 27th July 2018.
Djoliba of Mali will host Enyimba on the match-day 4 of the group stage of the competition.
Meanwhile, Enyimba will play the last match at home against Congo's Club Athletique Renassaince on 28th August 2018.
No doubt, on paper, Enyimba got themsleves the easiest group theybwould have prayed for. However, they must not underrate any club to avoid gnashing of teeth.
Among the three opponents, Djoliba of Mali is the toughest, hence, Enyimba must work hard to beat them at home. If Enyimba ca successfully garner maximum 9 points in three games at home and at keast one point on the road, they are sure of quarter final ticket.
Topping the group might not be a top priority as there is going to be another draw that decides who they play at the quarter final (knock-out) stage.
Enyimba have shown that they gwt good results away from home in this competition but their home games results are still shaky. They must improvw their home form if maximum 9 points must be ganered.
