CAF CC: Rangers Through To Group Stage After 2-0 Win Over USMBA By Niyi Busari Ranger International of Nigeria have qualified for the group stage of the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup after their 2-0 win over ten-man Union Sportive Madinet Bel Abbes at the Cathedral on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Bright Silas two first-half goals were enough for Flying Antelope to sail through to the group stage after a goalless first leg scoreline in Algeria. Silas put the home team ahead in the 6th minute before slotting home the second from the tight corner to double the result in the 44th minute. A brilliant save by USMBA goalkeeper in the 33rd minute denied Ajani Ibrahim from been on the score-sheet as his effort was parried by the keeper. The away team woe was compounded in the 91st-minute when Boualem Mesmouli was sent off for second bookable yellow card offense. Before Boualem was sent off, Bright Silas missed a scoring opportunity that would have been his third goal when his low shot was hit the upright. Akpos was brought down in the 18-yard box but the center referee ignored Ranger's penalty appeal. With the win, Rangers international joined other fifteen African club that qualified for the group stage. Raja Casablanca of Morocco, RS Berkame, HUS Agadir, ES Sahel, CS Faxien have all qualified for the next stage. Also, Zamalek SC, NAHD, San Pedro, New Star, Petrol Atletico, Kaizer Chiefs, Kampala city, Asante Kotoko Salitas FC and Mukura FC completed the 16 teams expected to drawn for group stage.
