Two time Africa champions were drawn against the Sudanese side, Al Mereikh for the first round of the CAF champions league. The first leg which was held at the Al Hilal stadium saw host beating the Nigeria side 3-0. Hat trick from Saif Terry in the 6th,  44th and 89th minutes was enough for the Sudanese champions to be in the driving seat ahead of the return leg in Nigeria. Enyimba will have to score at least four unreply goals in the reverse fixture slated for Nigeria in January to progress to the group stage of the competition.
