Lobi Stars Can Still Qualify From The Group - John Lazarus

Lobi Stars right back, John Lazarus is optimistic that Nigeria's sole representative in the ongoing CAF Champions League can still qualify from the group, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The former Nigeria Junior National team star while speaking with bsnsports.com.ng believed that in football anything is possible, adding that his team can still qualify for the knockout stages if they can win their next two matches.

"Impossible is nothing, in football anything can happen. No one gave us chance in the second leg against Wydad Casablanca but with determination and great technical job by the coach, Ogbeide, we achieve something out of the match.

"We can still qualify if we win our next two games, " he insisted.

He, however, apologised to Nigerians for their home loss to Wydad Casablanca and promised that the team will put smiles on the faces of their fans.

Lobi stars on Tuesday played a goalless draw with Wydad Casablanca in Morocco to reignite their hope of making it to the quarter-finals of the competition.

The Makurdi based club had in Nigeria lost 0-1 to Wydad Casablanca. The result was a setback and also the first home loss in the Group A.

In the return leg on in Casablanca, Lobi stars were resolute and composed to soak the pressure put to them by the host.

With the result, Wydad Casablanca are on top of the group table with 7 points from 4 matches, Mamelodi Sundowns are placed second with the same points as Wydad but the South African champions have less goal difference.

Lobi Stars have 4 points from 4 games but have a superior goal difference to be placed ahead of ASEC Mimosa.
