Ahead of the much awaited CAF Confederation Cup play off round against rivals, Enyimba international, head coach of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma has confirmed that they determined to progress into the group stage of the competition, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Pride of Rivers set up a clash with the Peoples Elephant on Saturday after they defeated Bloemfontein Celtics of South Africa 5-0 on aggregate in the first round of the competition.
Enyimba in its part dropped to the play off round of the confederation cup after they lost to Al Mereikh of Sudan in the CAF champions league first round .
Eguma while reacting to the big match against Enyimba, he said they acknowledged that Enyimba possessed the experience when it comes continental football but the entire Rivers United have determined to qualify for the group stage of the competition.
" Our game against Enyimba, I see it as a game of no fools, Enyimba is a Nigeria side likewise Rivers United, so we are rival opponent, we know each very well and we have been playing in the league, now that we are going to meet in the continent, it's going to be a big cracker.
You know what continental local derby means, anywhere you hear derby in the world is always a cracker and I see that s a cracker too.
Because of what is involved, group ticket if not I think it would have been brotherly game, so that both of us we qualify but the fact that one team must wualuft among two of us that will make it a very big cracker and we are not underrating them.
Enyimba have a lot if experience in the continent, they have been there for a long time and they understand the terrain but today we Rivers United are more than determined to succeed, players, management and sponsors gave set up a target and I think it will be difficult for to derail because we are all working round the clock to ensure that we succeed that will be the obstacles Enyimba will meet but I feel it's a game that can go either way," he said.
