By Sampson Adedeji
Head Coach of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma has showered encomium on his players for their spirited display against Futuro Kings of Equatorial Guinea in the second leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation cup, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Pride of Rivers have to decide the game via penalty shoot out after the game ended 2-1 after the regulation time.
Futuro had earlier won the first leg 2-1 last weekend in Equatorial Guinea to take the game to 3-3 on aggregate after recording 1-2 loss to Rivers United on Sunday. The Pride of Rivers had to take the game to penalty shoot before winning 2-0 to end the game on 5-3 aggregate.
Reacting after the match, Eguma said, they outplayed their opponents and that helped his boys to outclass Futuro Kings.
"It was not an easy game, it was a difficult game, but I thank God and the players too. We put on a spirited effort even when we conceded that goal against run of play."
"Today, we have decided to win, we outplayed our opponents and got two early goals, we should have increased the tally before they got their goal which kept us at per, but I think it was a good game today and we have qualified for the next round," he said
