CAFCC: Enyimba Dump Port Harcourt, Host CIV’s Williamsville In New Uyo Makeshift Home

Two-time African champions Enyimba have now settled for the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo as venue for their home matches in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Enyimba will host Williamsville of Ivory Coast in their third group game on June 18.
The Peoples Elephant Host previously used the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar as venue for their home matches in the competition but the ground has been suspended by CAF following the poor state of the playing surface.
The Aba giants last week adopted the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt as their makeshift home ground, but have changed their decision due to the poor condition of the pitch which hosted Super Eagles friendly game against Democratic Republic of Congo in May.
Their Stadium, the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba is under renovation and they could still hold CAF Confederation Cup games at the venue depending on how far they progress in the competition.
“Thrilling CAF Confederation Cup games return in 10 days when we host Williamsville AC of Ivory Coast in the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo. Keep your July 18 free,” a tweet on the club’s official Twitter handle confirmed the venue of the game on Sunday.
Enyimba are currently in Omagwa, a suburb in Port Harcourt, Rivers State preparing for the game against Williamsville.
The seven-time Nigeria Professional Football League champions are third on Group C standings with three points following a 2-0 win against Djoliba of Mali and 3-0 loss to CARA Brazzaville of Congo in their opening two games.
Williamsville are top of the group with four points, followed by CARA Brazzaville with three points, same as Enyimba, but with superior goal difference.
