CAF Elections Get Date
By Sampson Adedeji
Ahead of the next year's election, the Executive Committee of African soccer governing body on Thursday afternoon announced date to elect its Executive Committee, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The present body under former president, Madagascar Football Association, Ahmad Ahmad took over from Issa Hayatou of Cameroon few years back.
Since then the body has encountered series of trouble times under his leadership which prompted FIFA General Secretary Fatma Samoura taking over on interim basis for 6 months.
The body fixed the election date for 12th March 2021 in Morocco despite the fact that the contestants are yet to publicly declare interest.
Though, the president, Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick on several forum indicated interest in vying for the African body presidency.
Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus 2021 African Cup Of Nations that supposed to come up in January 2021 was postponed to 2022, which means that new executive body might have been in place before the competition.
