By Sampson Adedeji
Ahead of the presidential election of Africa soccer governing body, one of the candidate, Augustin Sengor has urged whoever emerge winner to find a way of regaining trust of the world soccer governing (FIFA), BSNSports.com.ng reports
CAF seems to be on the bad book of FIFA in recent time following happening within the body which led to secretary general of the body Fatma Samoura taking over the affair on a temporary basis at some and also the 5 year ban imposed on the incumbent president.
"There are certainly misunderstandings lately about the decisions taken on both sides and the new president must seek to restore this relationship of trust, '' said Augustin Senghor, recalling that relations were good until now.
"There is an umbilical link between Fifa and the Confederations, between the leaders of the two bodies. CAF and Fifa may not get along, but the two institutions are condemned '' to work together.
In Yaoundé, the Senegalese candidate presented his program to journalists, presidents of African federations and legends of continental football.
"As far as I'm concerned, I'm going to work on that," assured the president of the Senegalese football governing body, believing that Fifa needs a "strong" CAF.
Senghor thinks he symbolizes '' this person, this interlocutor who will allow peaceful relationships to be established in mutual respect ''.
He believes that "the most important" is to have "a beautiful" CAF who takes responsibility and who is in close contact with the world umbrella body.
"If we get there, CAF will win first," said President Senghor, stressing the need to talk to football players since his decision to run for the presidency of the CAF.
''I did not wait to present my program to talk to my colleagues, some came to talk to me before and talk about the same project to establish a new CAF, '' he recalled, stressing that the work has been done at the base.
Senghor, member of the Executive Committee of CAF, called for an uncompromising diagnosis of the continental body, recalling that if certain things have been done, it must also be recognized that there are problems within CAF .
