CAFCC: Enyimba coach Abdallah target qualification ticket, blame disorganised league calender for teams poor outing
By Sampson Adedeji
Ahead of the second leg of the CAF Confederation cup match against TS Galaxy of South Africa, Enyimba's coach Usman Abdallah has stated that qualification ticket is their main target, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
The People's Elephant defeated TSG 2-0 in the first leg match played at the Enyimba International stadium in Aba last weekend and will be hoping to secure favourable result in the second leg in South Africa this weekend.
Soft spoken coach recognised the threat posed by the South Africans but believed they are equal to the task.
"The game hasn't finish yet and is not over, and in the technical aspect of it we are in half time, the game is played in 180 minute and 90 minute has been played and we are leading 2-0, so, we have to hang on to our lead and I know it will come very difficult in South Africa, but the most important thing is to qualify. So, whatever results that will give us qualification is something. He told BSN Sports in Abuja.
He further said poor organisation that has characterised Nigeria league is responsible for teams poor outing in the CAF inter club competitions.
"This is something we have been talking about since last year and I have said it that the calender of Nigeria league is really affecting us in the continent, we've been doing well before but now you can see.
"The continental games are always competition, that always come up before the season start and most of the teams are reinforcing their teams, new players are coming and integrations of new players are very difficult because we need time to integrate them.
"But I think they have already rectified that to start early that was why we played abridged league only for something to come up again and I hope we will be able to catch up this year and get back to the continent with force," he concluded.
