CAFCC: Enyimba Optimistic of Victory Over CARA Brazaville

CAFCC:
By Admin The country’s only surviving team on the continent, Enyimba, will hope to make it a victorious home return as they take on Club Athletique Renaissance Aiglons of Congo Brazzaville in the final round of their CAF Confederation Cup group game. The two-time CAF Champions League winner finally returned to Aba, their home ground after spending more than three seasons away from home due to the re-grassing of the Aba pitch among other renovations. Enyimba currently second on the group table with nine points, same as their opponents who currently stay top and a win for the People’s Elephant will secure qualification as group winner. The coach Usman Abdallah-led team gave their qualification a huge boost as they secured a 1-0 away victory against Djoliba of Mali in their last game. Speaking during a press conference in Aba on Tuesday, Abdallah said they were banking on their fans to cheer them to victory. “The whole point is to qualify and the only way we are going to achieve that is by winning because we don’t want to bank on the other result,” he said. “We have to go all out and win. We have been back at home for the past three weeks, we already played some matches on the pitch and now we are getting use to the pitch. “We are also banking on our supporters to cheer us to victory on the day. They have been positive to the team and I am happy about that.” While buttressing his coach’s point, the captain of the team, Mfon Udoh, said they were happy to return home. According to the Nigeria Professional Football League record goal scorer with 23 goals, it would be a marvelous moment playing again in front of their fans unlike in the past when they play away from them.
