CAFCC: Finidi Happy With Win Over Diambars, Blame Lack Of Competitive Game For Poor Display
Sampson Adedeji
Head coach of the Nigeria's representative in the confederation cup, Enyimba International Finidi George has expressed his happiness with the outcome of the first leg match against Diambars FC, BSNsports.com.ng can report.
Despite the not too impressive performance in the game, the People's Elephant did enough to secure a hard fought away win over the Senegalese side.
While reacting to the outcome of the game, Finidi said lack of competition in football on the domestic scene affected the performance of his team but the tactical changes he made gave them the victory.
"I'm very happy with the result of this first leg because we played against a great team from Diambars.
We lack rhythm in this match because as you know, we lack competition. But with a few tactical adjustments, we were able to contain Diambars' actions. Our players are tired but this victory will do us good,
We knew we would be up against a team that is technically strong and plays well on the ball.
And we also knew that physically we couldn't compete so we got together. In the second half, the changes brought some freshness.
And at the end of the match, we got this decisive penalty which gave us this precious victory,” he said.
Enyimba will host the second leg at the Enyimba international stadium next weekend.
