CAFCC: Rivers United In Narrow Win Against Al Masry Sampson Adedeji Nigeria's Rivers United narrowly beat their visitor Al Masry 2-1 in the first leg play off of the confederation cup, BSNsports.com.ng can report. The match which was played at the Enyimba international in Aba witnessed the two matching each other toe-to-toe. It was Uche Uwuansanya that opened the scoring in the 25th minute and the lead lasted only two minutes with Mohammed Antar scoring a leveller in the 27th minute. Ishaq Rafiu restored Rivers United lead in the 33rd minute and ensured that they led going into halftime. The second half resumed with the Nigeria side pressing hard to extend their lead but the Egyptian backline stood their ground and kept the result at 2-1 going into the second leg. Al Masry will host the second leg next weekend and required a lone goal to progress while Pride of Rivers needed only a draw to reach the group stage.
