CAFCL, CAFCC Suffer Indefinite Postponement

The finals of Africa's two main competitions, the Champions League and Confederation Cup, were postponed indefinitely due to coronavirus fears, African governing body CAF said on Saturday.

The final of the prestigious Champions League was scheduled to take place in Cameroonian city Douala on 29 May while the Confederation Cup final was slated for 24 May in Moroccan capital Rabat.

"The new schedule will be communicated in due time after consultation with the various stakeholders," CAF said in a statement.

"CAF is monitoring the situation closely and working with the relevant authorities including the Wealth Health Organization (WHO) on the impact of the virus on the continent, and will announce developments to our competitions at the appropriate time."

Last week, CAF also postponed the semi-final games of both competitions.

Egyptian giants Ahly and Zamalek will play Morocco's heavyweights Wydad and Raja respectively in the Champions League, while Pyramids FC, Egypt’s rising power, will take on Horoya of Guinea in the Confederation Cup semis.

RS Berkane and Hassania Agadir will face off in a Moroccan derby in the second last-four game of Africa's second tier club competition.
