By Sampson Adedeji
Nigeria's sole campaigner in the CAF Champions League Lobi Stars of Markurdi suffered a 3-1 defeat in far away Kenya in the first leg of the Champions League against Kenya Champion Gor Mahia at the Kasarani Stadium in Kenya.
The Pride of Benue went behind as early as 5th minutes through Jacques Tuyisenge before Samuel Onyango doubled the host lead in the half hour mark.
Samad Kadiri reduced the tally a moment later, but Onyango increased the game to 3-1 before Lobi could settled down.
The host dominated the second stanza but was kept at bay by Lobi stars defenders lead by Emmanuel Agbaji.
The Nigeria side will have opportunity to redeem their image and qualify for the next stage when they play host to Gor Mahia in the return leg scheduled for next weekend.
