CAFCL: We Need To Be Focused And Concentrate Against Al-Ahly - Akpeyi
By Sampson Adedeji
Ahead of the CAF champions league final, Nigeria's Super Eagles goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi has stated what they needed to do if they must emerge champions of Africa, BSNSports.com.ng can reports.
Against all odds, Kaizer Chiefs will come face to face with defending champions Al Ahly of Egypt in the final of this year's CAF Champions League.
The Amakhosi surprisingly defeated former champions Wydad Casablanca of Morocco in the semifinal while Al Ahly beat Espearance to qualify for second consecutive final.
While chatting with the club media, former Warri Wolves shot stopper confirmed they were aware that the Egyptian side possessed the experience and he further said they must not loose focus in the game.
“I am sure everyone knows Al Ahly to be a tough side, they are a solid team and they are a team you need to be focused on 120 percent.
“It is not going to be an easy day but I’m sure that is the reason why we are preparing early, in camp at the moment working out strategies and plans on how to actually face this huge game. I’m sure they [Al Ahly] are also expecting a lot from us.
So it’s just a game of being focused and each team taking their opportunities once they come. So we are preparing for the big game, for the big team and looking at the history of the team again, you realise they have won a lot, including the Champions League, so I’m sure they have that experience with them.
“We are coming as underdogs and we respect them but at the same time we will be coming with our A game," he said.
Akpeyi was in goal in the second leg of the semi final against Wydad and adjudged as the man of the match in the game.
The final game is slated for Mohammed V stadium Morrocco.
