CAFCL:Akpeyi's Teammates Choose Champions League Final Over Tokyo Olympics
By Omolagba Oluwayemi
Ahead of their CAF Champions League final against Al Ahly, Kaizer Chiefs duo Reeve Frosler and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo have chosen to stay with their club instead of going to represent their country in the Olympics, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Kaizer Chiefs pair were selected for next month’s tournament, but it clashes with their CAF Champions League final.
The CAF Champions League final against Al Ahly in Casablanca, Morocco on Saturday, 17 July takes place just five days before South Africa face Tokyo Olympic hosts Japan in their tournament opener.
South Africa and Egypt, along with the Ivory Coast, are the three African nations who will represent the continent in Japan.
South Africa have been drawn in a Group A alongside Japan, Mexico and France.
Egypt were drawn in Group C along with Spain, Argentina and Australia, while Ivory Coast will contest Group D with Brazil, Germany and Saudi Arabia.
