Cairo Hosts Training Workshop For Coaches Ahead CAF Women's Champions League Sampson Adedeji As part of the plan to develop women's football in Africa, a total of 30 female coaches currently working with local Egyptian League women's teams and academies are participating in a three-day coaching workshop in Cairo, Egypt, BSNSports.com.ng can report. The workshop entitled "CAF Women's Champions League Legacy Coaching Workshop" takes place a few days before the kick-off of the CAF TotalEnergies Women's Champions League scheduled for Friday, November 05, 2021. Organized by CAF's Women's Football Development Department, the historic workshop aims to leave a legacy for the Champions League and empower local coaches who already work in women's football structures. Safia Dayem, CAF's Head of Women's Football Development, told CAFOnline.com: “Coach education and personal development are essential to the advancement of women's football in Africa. For us as CAF, the TotalEnergies Women's Champions League is not just another tournament but a platform that will take the continent's leagues to the next level. For that to happen, we need to focus on the product on the pitch and the quality of the coaches is key to making that happen. " The workshop is led by the CAF Senior Instructor and Head Coach of the Ivory Coast Women's National Team Clémentine Touré and CAF Instructor Sheryl Botes from South Africa. The duo is also part of CAF's Technical Study Group (TSG). “Our continent is full of real potential and women's football is now booming. Nevertheless, in order not to slow down this promising development and so that we can improve ourselves, the training of players and managers is a prerequisite ”, commented Touré. “In my country, I have seen how investing in our coaches and developing women has paid off with Desiree Ellis. This confirms the fact that we need to focus on the development of local coaches, ”added Botes.
