Cameroonian, Sunshine Queens Midfielder, Carin Yoh Talks About Saddest Moment In Her Career

The determination and zeal of sunshine Queens players at the just concluded Elite league Season will forever be remembered especially the performance of Carin Yoh Mbuh, a Cameroonian midfielder who became a maestro after few matches. In this exclusive interview with Michael Akintunde she talked about her career, challenges and set targets for the new football season

Good morning, can you quickly tell us the meaning of your names alot of Nigerians really wanna know

A

Good morning to you and welcome, well, carine means flowers , Yoh means care while mbuh represents peace

Tell us how you started your football career and when?

A

I started loving football from my tender age, i always follow my brothers to the football pitch and later I joined the the secondary school and started playing with boys in our cadet school team until I joined my first cub played for a Year, After den we had a tournament to play inter-region in Cameroon that was when I was picked to join the U17 in Cameroon

What year did you joined the U17 team?

A

I played for both the under 17s and under 20s same year 2010, That year we played qualifiers for the world cup but did not qualify, we were eliminated by Ghana and again Nigeria too did same to the U20 team

How old are you now?

A

Smiles, I'm 25

Did you play for any professional team in Cameroon and what year?

A

Cameroon doesn't have a professional league like Nigeria, i played in four different clubs in Cameroon my first team was Gentile ladies that's where I was brought up before i later moved to Frankrohlesec in Dla premier club 2011-13 then in 2014 I played for Panthers security fc

What were the challenges faced while growing up playing football

A

Yeah, i really never had Challenge at the beginning but when I had my first injury playing for the u17 against South Africa I scored the only goal of the game so when my teammates came to jubilate with me something i cant really explained happened when they all left I could not stand up, until i discovered i already had a fractured ankle, it was hard and that was the saddest moment of my career because the injury kept me out for almost a year

What led to your decision playing as a midfielder ?

A

I started my career as a striker but was converted to a midfielder, i remember years ago one of my teammates got injured during a competition in Cameroon, she was our midfielder so my coach asked me to drop deep in the midfield and since then I've always played as a midfielder and i love it

A

I love number 8 because of Andre iniesta

Did your parents supports you decision to choose football as a career ?

A

Yes especially my late dad he was a sports man and love sport so much and always encouraging me to follow my passion he was very supportive

When did you arrive Nigeria and which of the elite teams was your first team

A

My first team was bayelsa Queens then i was invited to play just the super four and it was my first club and I really just felt in love with Nigerian league then in 2015 I came to confluence queens and played just one season and last year 2018 I came to sunshine queens where I won my first medal in Nigerian league

Why did you joined sunshine Queens

A

Well, i was invited by the head coach and i felt its another opportunity for me to showcase my talent and i got here met some players I've played with before like tobiloba and other friends , they helped me get settled and the hospitality here is awesome

What are your set targets for the year

A

Well, i won a medal already with sunshine queens , my target this year is to win both the league and the Aiteo cup, i believe its achievable

Your memorable moments with sunshine queens last season

A

Wow, Winning the losers final match of the super four playoffs against Rivers angels, it was a sweet victory against a team like Rivers angels who many believe are unbeatable

Do you still intend playing for your country?

A

Of course yes , I'm fitter , stronger and I've got more knowledge , i cant wait be back in the national team, smiles

Who is your favorite Nigerian player ever

A

Perpetual Nwokocha, she is an amazing player , Africa is lucky to have her play for the continent

Whats your favorite food and why?

A

_Any food with draw soup, because even if I'm sick with no appetite I'm still gonna eat it

What other career would you have chosen aside football?

A

I studied accounting , i would have become an account, its not too late though

Many African players are always eager to leave Africa for Europe to continue their career , you love that?

A

Oops, the dream of every footballer in Africa is to play abroad, both male and female, I'm not in a hurry but its my desire to play outside Africa
